Couple of things:
1. I could sit and watch the St. Charles river traffic all day every day. It’s mesmerizing. Good thing I don’t have that view out of my office window.
2. Random thought brought on by looking at the weird and fantastic landscape shapes out the airplane window this afternoon:
When I was young, I’d sit on the toilet (TMI*, folks?) at grandma’s house and stare at the swirly curly patterns in the linoleum – like cloud watching – but closer to home. Things would “appear” in the designs and wouldn’t go away. Mostly animals because that’s where my head was, but there were other things, too. I told grandma about it one day and she got me a pen and told me to go ahead and make the <whatever I’d seen> easier to see. I like that. She let me draw on the floor with a more or less permanent pen because she thought I was so creative. That was very supportive of her, don’t you think? Looking back, I appreciate that, and also hope that she mopped the floor in there occasionally. Last time I was there (a hundred or so years later) I looked for the Pegasus I’d drawn, but it had been worn off. (I could have said cleaned off but that was less likely.)
*Too Much Information
Ummmm, I know I shouldn’t, but I just can’t resist… Boopie. Please tell me you remember that.
I don’t remember the swirly pattern on the floor. Glad you do. That’s a nice one.

Yeah, I remember. I think I was about 19 before I knew the real words for things.
