Dang

We had to take Mr. Long to the vet this morning.  He had a baseball sized lump attached to the side of his face.  He didn’t care if I touched it, which was odd, and he was starving and ate a lot.  But it was an abscess.  So he has been operated on successfully, is coming along just fine and we have to go pick him up in a couple of hours.

I SO want him to be an indoor cat, but the old lady cats we have HATE him to come in the house.  They attack him, and pester him, and stalk him.   And he’s more of a lover, not a fighter, so he ends up being exceedingly henpecked.  Poor thing.  Now he’s going to have to live in a room by himself for a week while he’s collared and has the drain in.  This has been a very expensive animal month.

Lewi had to go to the vet and then straight to the Dog Ophthalmologist.  Really.  Who even knew there was such a thing.  He’s doing much better now.  Me, not so much.  I have to put four sets of things in his eye twice a day, with 10 minutes in between each drop. That feels like pretty much all I do every day now, is put drops and goop in Lewi’s eyes.  And clean them out.  At least he’s very good about it.  I give him tiny treats each time so he’s always thinking about that instead of the drops.

Sissy says, “Put a drop in my eye, too, so I can have a treat!”

Lewi says, “Ready!”

And here are a few gramma and baby pics.

Cute little thang, ain’t she?  I just stare at her a lot.  Completely enamored.

I got to do face time with her lovely little cousin? 2nd cousin?  My niece’s baby Gwyneth.  She was also quite delightful as is her beautiful mother.   It was fun.

I feel good today, abscessy-cats notwithstanding.

  1. Yep, I’m having a heavy vet bill month too, but it comes with the territory.

I now have to give Azar daily liver supplements, and a laxative… fun, fun, fun!

And the new kitten has worms again.

Plus must swoosh Loki’s eyes out with saline regularly.

Gee, good thing I don’t have a full time job! 🙂

  2. Hmm. I may have to look though my yarn stash; that baby looks in need of a hat that looks like a tomato. Or a blueberry.

I have to put drops in Old Dog’s ears twice a day, and give her a pain pill twice a day also. So I give her the pain pill in a Pill Pocket after I do her ears, and Backup Dog stands around with that EXACT same look on her face. “I would like treats! I’m a good dog! Put something in my ears so I can have a treat, please!”

Today I wiped Sissy’s eyes out so she could have a treat. I’m not sure if that makes me more pathetic than her or not.

re: hat – Blueberry, please! That would be so great! It would look smashing against her red hair I think. I just made her a ‘ba-ba’ which is a diaper with silky blanket binding all around the edge. Really great for thumbsuckers, which she is. And Andrew was. If you make 5 or 6 of them, then they can be washed and be interchangeable and never get too disgusting. Or lost. I often thought that was the smartest thing I ever did as a new mom with my kid. Somewhere I have some pictures of Andrew with his when he was little.
I had terrible sewing machine trauma trying to make it over the last two days. I’ll write about it once it becomes funny. Right now it’s just painful.

Az – Now I have to use warm compresses on Mr. Long’s wound a couple of times a day, and feed him antibiotics twice a day. I DO have a full time job. Besides the animals, I mean. Something’s gotta give. If only Bob were better at this sort of thing. He’s probably terrible on purpose, damn him. Smart.
